Embarking on this new venture, we asked our friends Sara and Andrew Van Oostrum if they would allow us to remodel the interior of their horsebox. As they are familiar with our work they gladly accepted. Sara and Andrew are the owners of Starhill Stud. Between them, they have 80 years experience with breeding top quality British Riding Ponies, Hunters, Welsh Part Breds and Sports Ponies, with excellent temperaments being the priority. They are also the owners of Total Impact Equestrian, they kindly supplied photos of their beautiful horse The Philanderer, HOYS Supreme Champion. Sadly, he is no longer with us.
Sara and Andrew wanted something very different from the original designs. After completely stripping out the box we were left with a bare canvas to rejuvenate. The ceiling was covered in a cream faux leather, lightly padded for extra insulation, with matching button detail. The walls and other panelling were refurbished with blue faux leather, to create a user-friendly, luxurious appearance.
Sara chose a blue woven fabric from Sunbury Design, which is flame retardent and has an easy clean finish. This was selected for the cushions and the mattresses. This was complemented with scatter cushions in a similar weight fabric but contrasting colour, making it pop.
